About the Mutual Aid Vegan Foodbank

We aim to provide Vegan food and toileteries to anyone in need of help with basic supplies.

With the recent increases in the uses of food banks both nationally and locally within Brighton we feel as part of our own community that we should respond to this within our own capacities. Austerity affecting state run services, and the introduction of universal credit is putting those struggling deeper into poverty. We think that a response from the community should be helping each other.

We want to link people engaged in local struggles with the wider community and for those in the community to get involved and build a wider support network.

We believe in mutual aid and a practical approach to resolving issues where we live.

Part of our mission is also promoting alternative choices that don’t involve using animal products. For this reason the foodbank is Vegan, but any donations that are not suitable for us will be passed on to other foodbanks in the area

Donations

As well as welcoming donations of vegan food at our collection point in the club (as well as at Infinity, Smorls and Hisbe), we also need financial support to stock up on staples, pay for petrol and other expenses involved in running the foodbank.
